What We Believe
Presbyterians affirm the faith of the universal church - that is, we believe those fundamental things common to all who worship Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, as the scripture says,
"In Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us" -2 Cor. 5:19
Expressions of these fundamental beliefs include the ancient creeds, like the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed.

Presbyterians also affirm some distinctive elements of Christian tradition, which do not separate us from the rest of the Church but rather mark our unique place in it. The part of our constitution called the Book of Confessions expresses some of these distinctive elements of our faith. The last and most recent of those confessions, called A Brief Statement of Faith, is a good example of modern Presbyterian emphases.
