Special Giving Options
If you would like to make arrangements to speak with our Treasurer, Linda Kimsey, regarding special gifts and contributions, please contact the church office at (912) 681-2053.
Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD): Using a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is a great way for folks over 70 &1/2 with an IRA and a need to withdraw funds to meet a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), to contribute to FPC’s general operating fund. The money you contribute to FPC using a QCD is not included in your adjusted gross income on your tax return, which is a better option than listing the donation as a simple charitable contribution. Please consult your personal financial advisors on all legal, tax, or financial issues related to your gift. Nothing contained on this website or in any of its documents, attachments, or links should be considered legal, tax, or financial advice. FPC is not qualified to offer this kind of advice. For information about the specific tax benefits to which you may be entitled through your charitable giving or if you have questions, please contact your financial advisor, accountant, tax advisor or attorney.
Gifts of Securities (publicly traded stocks or bonds): As with all such matters, you should consult with your personal tax and legal advisors about the impact of making such gifts to see if they are appropriate for you. With gifts of securities, no capital gain is realized on gifts of appreciated securities to the church. This may allow you to forego tax liability on the sale of the stock. FPC is not qualified to offer this kind of advice.
The Treasurer coordinates gifts of securities to FPC. The Treasurer will work with you and with FPC’s stockbroker (Synovus) to ensure that your gift is received. FPC does not hold the securities that are contributed; we sell the stock as soon as possible since we do not want to be in the business of “playing the market.” Thus, your gift of securities will be an immediate cash gift to FPC once we have sold the securities.

Gifts of Life Insurance: You may make a one-time gift to the church by designating the church as a beneficiary of a policy or the owner of a fully paid-up policy. Contact your insurance agent for advice on making gifts of life insurance to the church.
