We here at Missions are continually amazed and thankful for each of you loving from your heart and giving generously. During this uncertain and challenging time; with your generosity we have been providing 50 bags for our Hispanic BPB families of Langston Chapel Elementary School along with masks bought by members and given to us by the City of Statesboro. To fulfill the next 4 weeks, we need 200 of each of the following: juice boxes, fruit cups/applesauce and raisins. We are expecting a shipment of masks for children this week. We included a note to the families written in Spanish with the Scripture from Psalms 56:3 “When I am afraid, I will trust in you” and mask wearing instructions. Be on the lookout for a new way to encourage participation of our children in this essential mission..we want them to have fun doing it also!

We are also stocking our Little Free Pantry every other day with the following requests: personal sized shampoo, conditioner, men’s and women’s deodorants. Also with the extreme heat; bottled waters are much appreciated. We also started placing masks in the pantry.

We all look forward to the day when we can be together; greeting each other in person! Until then continue taking care of yourselves and each other.

Blessings,
The Mission Team

Jesus continually reminds us of His love for all His children:
“He said to him the third time, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter felt hurt because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” And he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.”
John 21:17 NRSV

<![CDATA[“He hath showed thee, O man, what is good;and what doth Jehovah require of thee, but to do justly, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with thy God?”]]>Sat, 04 Jul 2020 15:03:55 GMThttp://fpcstatesboro.org/mission-mondays/he-hath-showed-thee-o-man-what-is-goodand-what-doth-jehovah-require-of-thee-but-to-do-justly-and-to-love-kindness-and-to-walk-humbly-with-thy-godGood afternoon, everyone!
As we enjoy this warm day in Georgia, we are praying for your health and safety. We are so blessed to have online worship services to sustain us through these challenging times. We get to have a fill-up for our weary spirits with the most beautiful music, children’s time and our much-needed sermons that motivate and inspire! Thank you to everyone working so hard to keep us connected all week long.
We would also like to keep everyone connected with our Mission outreach. Last week, we visited Second Harvest as we needed to buy peanut butter and raisins for which we will pay $7.90; but we picked up a total of 460 lb. of non-perishables in total at no additional cost. While we were there, a Second Harvest employee asked if we could use some fresh bread. She gave us 60 loaves of sandwich bread; talk about the loaves and fishes! This week, we are extending our relationship with Charlene Hendrix-Hill and Lifeway Church hoping to meet some recipients of our outreach. Remember to continue collecting jars of jelly so we have enough for the two week period when the school children will not be served by the county. We are supplementing an additional bag with peanut butter, jelly and bread to help them through those two weeks. We are also collecting, organizing and distributing diapers of all sizes. As always, we thank everyone for their donations, coordination and delivery of food and especially your prayers for us to continue to help! We also continue to stock the Little Free Pantry every other day and it is being used as it usually is empty when we stock. There is also a variety of books for folks in the Little Free Library; if anyone has some gently-used great books to share, please bring to the donation room. They are so much appreciated.

One verse that stands out right now is from Micah 6:8
“He hath showed thee, O man, what is good;and what doth Jehovah require of thee, but to do justly, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with thy God?”

<![CDATA[God loves all His children; there is no us and them.]]>Wed, 24 Jun 2020 21:33:57 GMThttp://fpcstatesboro.org/mission-mondays/god-loves-all-his-children-there-is-no-us-and-themGood afternoon everyone!

Apologies for the late arrival; but we were waiting on some news and feedback from some folks. That said, what a wonderful and inspiring message for our worship service yesterday; all of it .. the music, the children's message and the sermon! We hear loud and clear that God loves all His children; there is no us and them. Everyone is our neighbor. We are called to help. We want to be Lemon helping rather than walking by. There truly are neighbors who need us. We have learned from Charlene Hendrix-Hill, our coordinator for the Backpack Buddy program that July 17 will be the last day that Bulloch County will deliver food until the start of school. We would like to commit an additional bag for those 2 weeks filling with peanut butter, jelly and a loaf of bread. We are picking up 8 cases of peanut butter from Second Harvest this week. If over the next month, each of us buys a jelly, we will be in pretty good shape. We are checking out a bread store on 301 South to see if when needed, we can purchase a large order. We will continue our regular commitment for 50 Backpack Buddy bags weekly..fruit cups, applesauce cups and juice boxes are always needed. We appreciate each and every one of you for your continued prayers, the behind-the-scenes workers and monetary and food donations given. We do make a difference in these young lives!

Please continue bringing 'gently' used books for the Little Free Library as they are being taken by folks. Diaper packs and loose diapers of all sizes can be brought to the Backpack Buddy room and they will be organized for distribution. Again, thank you all for your continued generosity, support and above all, your love.
Blessings,
The Mission Team

<![CDATA[The Spirit is leading and as we listen for guidance we are learning and becoming.]]>Fri, 19 Jun 2020 22:04:52 GMThttp://fpcstatesboro.org/mission-mondays/the-spirit-is-leading-and-as-we-listen-for-guidance-we-are-learning-and-becomingHello to everyone!

The Spirit is leading and as we listen for guidance we are learning and becoming. Please stay safe as Georgia opens more in all ways. Our Mission team is committed to your health and welfare above all. If anyone feels at risk for physically coming to drop off a donation; please let us know so someone can come to your porch, drive, etc. and we will get it to church. We sincerely appreciate all you are doing from a distance to help our neighbors!

We are planning on reopening the Little Free Library this week as Lois Roberts is comfortable in its' restocking. If anyone has books they have read while Sheltering-in-Place and would like to donate; we would love some new titles. Please bring the books to the donation room and they will labeled and offered for reading.

In keeping the diaper donation going, Katie Rasor Newell has graciously volunteered to help sort, organize and label diapers for distribution. If you have questions, you may contact her at katie.rasor@gmail.com. They can be loose diapers that you bring in a bag to the Backpack Buddy room. Katie is also collecting gently worn clothing for 2 years and under; most boys that will serve our little siblings of the Backpack Buddy program. As for the diapers, bring the clothing to the same room.

We are hoping soon to meet our neighbors through coordination with Charlene Hendrix-Hill and Lifeway Church. Would it not be wonderful to have a beginning relationship with these folks..babysteps to build anew. As you can see, these are exciting and challenging times..a time to be a reflection of Jesus and His love.

Blessings,

The Mission Team

<![CDATA[Let us help ease their burden as Jesus did already for us.]]>Mon, 08 Jun 2020 17:09:09 GMThttp://fpcstatesboro.org/mission-mondays/let-us-help-ease-their-burden-as-jesus-did-already-for-usHello everyone!

Another week has passed and the Spirit is moving in a mighty way. As we ask and listen for guidance on our journey; let us strive to love God first and with all our heart, soul and strength. Secondly, to love our neighbor as ourself. Let us pray to find our best self and give joyfully to those hurting, suffering, hungry and tired. Let us help ease their burden as Jesus did already for us.

We are grateful for the donations for our Little Free Pantry and Backpack Buddies. We received many items that were depleted this week. We are blessed with a large order from Second Harvest this week. Every item we are receiving for both missions will be fee free. God is good! Keeping 50 backpacks filled weekly is no small undertaking. We will need a new supply of Granola bars, Fruit-grain bars, juice boxes, applesauce and fruit cups and raisins. Also diapers of all sizes are welcome.

We appreciate all each of you do and the prayers you pray for our community and our neighbors. Psalm 37 is a soothing yet powerful message to hold fast to in these times.

Blessings from the Mission Team
